Is your diet unhealthy? See if your diet needs a re-vamp just answer these simple questions to check out if your diet is healthy and get some great hints and tips on the way!!

There are some simple hints and tips on how to achieve step changes towards a healthy diet and lifestyle see Change 4 Life

We recommend that you:

*            Eat at least 5 fruits or vegetables per day, get as much variety as possible for increased goodness.

*            Reduce your saturated fat intake, replace butter or lard with vegetable oils/spreads, drink skimmed or semi skimmed milk, reduce cheese intake

*            Reduce your salt intake, don’t add salt to food when cooking or at the table, salt substitutes can be pepper, herbs or spices

*            Reduce your sugar intake, be aware of how much sugar is in your food and try not to add sugar to tea, coffee, cereals.

*            Calcium, try to have 3 portions of calcium rich food per day, low fat yoghurts, skimmed or semi skimmed milk drinks

*            Try to eat 3 portions of oily fish per week such as salmon, mackerel, tuna or trout.

*            Eat low fat Starchy foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta, wholemeal/grain bread.

Hints and tips:

*      Replace sugary carbonated drinks with water, freshly squeezed fruit juice or tea/coffee (no sugar added)

*      Try to have fruit as a snack instead of chocolate, crisps, biscuits or cakes

*      Try to Grill bake or boil/casserole food rather than fry it.
